BRIMBANK council has stepped up its commitment to eradicate graffiti vandalism.
The council last week confirmed reports of a recent incident involving a group of youths and a council contractor who was attempting to clean graffiti from a public toilet. The incident has been reported to police.
Council’s infrastructure and environment director, Paul Younis, said Sunshine had been a recent hot spot for tagging.
“There is a high occurrence of graffiti in Sunshine, including HV McKay and Kevin Wheelahan gardens, and council has responded by increasing the frequency of graffiti removal,” he said.
“Its removal is important to the town centre and the amenity of our public spaces. Council and the community are justifiably frustrated by constant and ongoing graffiti that is occurring.’’
