North Sunshine Eagles booted out over brawl

NORTH Sunshine Eagles have been expelled from  Football Federation Victoria over a brawl that erupted after the state league 3 north-west clash with Sporting Whittlesea on June 29.

The decision means the Eagles can take no part in FFV-sanctioned activities until 2014 at the earliest.

The club was also fined $15,000, its points were stripped in all divisions from juniors to seniors, and members were ordered to undertake the FFV’s respect and responsibility course before readmission will be considered.

The Eagles were given three business days to appeal the decision and were assessing their options when the Weekly went to press.

SOCCER BRAWL:  ‘We condemn this type of behaviour’

Sporting Whittlesea was not penalised over the incident at Larissa Reserve in St Albans because, according to a FFV press release, none of  the charges against the club were proved.

Victoria Police is also continuing to  investigate the incident.

Mitchell Murphy, the FFV’s chief executive, said antisocial behaviour would not be tolerated.

“Anyone found to be violent and putting the game in disrepute will face the consequences,” he said.
