A ONE-point win over Altona and a Hoppers Crossing loss means St Albans can start planning for finals in the Western Region Football League’s division 1.
The Saints held off Altona in a strong wind at Kings Park Reserve on Saturday, beating the Vikings 11.12 (78) to 10.17 (77) as Hoppers Crossing – the only threat to St Albans’ finals spot – lost 9.15 (69) to 14.19 (103) to Albion.
With two games remaining, the Warriors are still a mathematical chance for finals, but they would have to beat both North Footscray and Deer Park and hope St Albans drops games against Albion and North Footscray – very unlikely.
