My Shout: North west ignored

I’M thinking the Napthine government
has a map of Melbourne that doesn’t include anywhere beyond the tram
network.

When Ford announced it was ending production in Broadmeadows
and Geelong, politicians rushed down the Princes Freeway to promise
folks down there that Ford’s demise would lead to bigger and better
things while barely mentioning the void to be left in the Melbourne’s
north west.

Then there’s the transport plans, such as East West Link and the
new container freight plan that will mean more traffic between the
already congested port of Melbourne and Dandenong/Hastings.

It is
mind-boggling that the state ignores Melbourne’s north west as a
transport hub to take advantage of the Hume Highway, Melbourne-Sydney
rail route, the Western/Northern Ring Road and Melbourne Airport.
