A NEW aged-care centre in Cairnlea will cater for up to 60 residents and 80 employees.
Construction of the $12.5-million Brimbank Vietnamese Aged Care centre is expected to begin in coming months.
The federal government has given $11.5 million to the Indochinese Elderly Refugees Association towards the centre.
Association president Quan Tran said the centre would cater for people of all nationalities.
“It’s available for everyone,” he said. “And it’s badly needed,
although it will only cater for 20 per cent of the need in the area.”
The 60-bed Cairnlea Drive centre will provide long-term residential, dementia and respite care services. It will employ 80 staff including doctors, health workers and a hairdresser.
