Teen Mikhaela prepares to belt out her best

Sydenham teenager Mikhaela Cugliari has put everything on hold as
she prepares for this weekend’s grand final of the Best of the West
singing competition.

“Singing always comes first – all else is pushed aside,” Mikhaela, 14, says.

She admits that while it can be difficult to balance her love for
singing with her schoolwork and social life, singing is her top
priority. “[Singing] is always something that I’ve loved and won’t stop
doing.”

While Mikhaela has a strong sense of self-belief, she’s well aware
of how difficult the recording industry can be. “I know that it is a
really hard industry, but it is something that I’ll try my hardest to
get into.”

Mikhaela says the western-suburbs competition has been a great
experience for her. “It is a chance to learn from other people, and it
helps to build your confidence.”

The grand final is on Saturday at the WestWaters Hotel in Caroline Springs.

The winner will receive a career kickstarter package, including ongoing mentoring and a professional photo shoot.
