Keilor Park Cricket Club members are tickled pink with their plans for Pink Stumps Day on Saturday.
Keilor Park Recreation Reserve is the venue for this breast cancer fundraiser, with an afternoon of fine dining, champagne, giveaways and live entertainment ready to go.
Event organiser Kylie Garth says the annual event is always a hit, and last year it raised more than $2000 for the McGrath Foundation.
“It’s always a really fun day. Although we encourage everyone to bring along their mums, sisters, daughters, aunties and girlfriends, it’s not necessarily girls only.”
The club’s second division men’s team will play a “Pink Test” and Brimbank-based band Where’s Wally will perform live.
Raffle and giveaway prizes include an overnight stay at the Parkview Hotel, a $300 voucher for a blinds store, Fisher & Paykel kitchen cooking vouchers, Salt & Pepper home- wares, and Ooh La La handbags and wallets.
The McGrath Foundation, in its 10th year, is aiming to increase the number of foundation-funded
breast care nurses across Australia to 110, to support 10,000 families this year. Foundation ambassador and director Tracy Bevan says Pink Stumps Day will play a vital role in reaching this goal.
“Our McGrath breast care nurses are at the heart of what we do at the foundation,” she said. “Together, they’ve helped support more than 30,000 Australian families.”
