A dog was stuck in a Kealba storm water drain for several hours last night as wild weather lashed the city.
Brimbank SES Unit controller Brad Dalgleish said crews attended the scene on Green Gully Road around 10pm just as it started to rain heavily.
“Crews arrived to find the dog was at the bottom of a significantly deep storm water pit,” he said.
“It could have drowned. It was a very complicated rescue I’m told. It was a large dog so it took several hours to get him out.
“I’m assuming the dog has gotten off the lead while its owner took it for a walk.”
Local SES crews have responded to nearly a dozen several incidents over the past 24 hours, mainly involving fallen trees, and one retirement village receiving minor damage from rain.
