The indoor pool at St Albans Leisure Centre will be closed for about six weeks from next month as council repairs its ageing roof between April and June.
Chairman John Watson said the works were a necessary inconvenience.
“Anyone who uses the St Albans Leisure Centre will be aware it is an ageing community facility. It is necessary for the council to carry out regular maintenance and repairs to ensure the centre can continue to function safely into the future.
“The roof above the pool hall is in need of repair, and while works are completed there will be no access to the pool deck, including toddler pool, spa and sauna for a period of about six weeks.”
The gymnasium, group fitness room, crèche and change rooms will not be affected by the works and will remain open for business. Swimming lessons will recommence as soon as the pool is re-opened.
“We thank community members for their understanding and patience while works are carried out and look forward to welcoming community members back into the pool once repairs are completed,” Mr Watson said.
Closure dates will be confirmed closer to the start of works.
