STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

I think it is good news for the Caroline Springs area to have more schools (New high hope for Mowbray, May 20). Having West Lakes Grammar School would give people more options of where to send their kids. Good work by Cr Intaj Khan and [interim principal] David Warner.

ALBION TRUCK TRAFFIC

Despite what the Regional Rail Link Authority has said to Star Weekly, no truck driver or their parent company has been fined for ignoring ‘no truck’ signs (Albion fury over trucks, May 20), so we can only assume this is just talk. In fact, during the month of works, only trucks coming down Adelaide Street increased in number.

As for Brimbank council, it didn’t act effectively on our concerns, even after repeated contact.

The council even sent someone who came back and said that traffic on Adelaide Street was quite low – even though thousands of extra cars and dozens of trucks per day were directed down it during the work period. We have photos of dozens of trucks breaking the law and many registration numbers.

You can see the ‘Gross Load Limit – 6 Tonnes’ sign in the left of the photo in this news article, so everyone knew what was permitted yet it was allowed to continue due to either negligent inaction or outright complicity; we don’t know which.
