Another pedestrian killed on Ballarat Road

Two men in their 50s have died on Ballarat Road this week.

A Laverton man, 52, died after being struck by a street sweeper on Ballarat Road in Deer Park on Tuesday morning.

The pedestrian was struck while travelling east along Ballarat Road just before 5am. 

In another incident, a 53-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Ardeer on Wednesday evening.

Police have been told the man was crossing Ballarat Road when he was struck by a passing car just before 7.30pm.  He died at the scene. 

The driver of the car, who was not injured, stopped at the scene.

Westbound traffic was diverted around the scene for several hours.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the collision and will prepare a report for the coroner.
