NPL: Green Gully names Slobode Stojcevski its head coach

Green Gully announced its second coaching change of the National Premier League soccer season last week.

The Cavaliers appointed Slobode Stojcevski as head coach for the rest of the year. He replaces Aaron Symons who stood down.

Stojcevski is a well-known figure at Green Gully and was in charge of the club’s under-20 side before taking on the top job.

He says he’s excited to be given the chance to help the Cavaliers.

“I am a Green Gully club man through and through. It’s nice to be counted on to help the team.”

Green Gully has had an inconsistent start to its NPL season and is 11th on the ladder after nine rounds.

The Cavaliers have won just three games and conceded 25 goals, the most of any side in the competition.

Stojcevski believes an even contribution from his entire playing list is the key to turning the slump around.

“The team is responsible for the overall result. I don’t point the finger at one end or the other,” he said. “My mentality has always been that the team succeeds or fails together.”

After suffering a 3-2 loss to Ballarat at the weekend, Green Gully will have the chance to climb up the NPL ladder in coming rounds. The Cavaliers will not meet a team in the competition’s top six during their next four games.
