Kids’ writing workshops

Explore the basics of storytelling with Michael Wagner on Tuesday, July 1, 1.30-2.30pm at Deer Park library, and with Sofie Laguna on Wednesday, July 2, from 11am-noon at St Albans library. The sessions cover all aspects, from the seriously spooky to side-splittingly funny. Suitable for 8-12-year-olds. No charge.

Art exhibition

Enjoy the art of Linda Fry. Her art is an expression of both her conscious and sub-conscious self and can sometimes be quite raw. The free exhibition is at the Sunshine Art Spaces Gallery from July 9 to August 2, 10am to 2pm.

Community planting

Help restore the rocky escarpment along Kororoit Creek by planting bird-attracting trees and shrubs with an understorey of native grasses then enjoy a barbecue lunch at the EcoLiving Centre, Selwyn Park, Albion, on Saturday, July 19, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Meet along the creek behind the tennis courts. Bring gardening gloves and water bottle and wear sturdy shoes, long trousers, long-sleeve top and hat. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.
