Nilda Escalante to take charge at Brimbank Rotary Club

They say behind every great man is a great woman.

The Brimbank Rotary Club believes so, too, and when its leadership changes hands on July 5, Nilda Escalante will take the baton from current president Bert Mom for the new financial year.

The handover comes at an exciting time for the club with several big events on the way, including Stars of the West and Battle of the Bands talent competitions.

Mr Mom said a highlight of the year had been the club shipping more than 420 boxes of goods, weighing more than 6.5 tonnes, to the Philippines Red Cross following the typhoon which ripped through the country on November 8 last year, killing more than 5000 people. Goods including clothing, building materials, tools and non-perishable food were sent in a shipping container.
