‘Threats’ keep man from court
An Avoca man charged in connection to the alleged murder of missing Deer Park man Ricky Lee Ganly failed to appear in Ballarat Magistrates’ Court last week because of threats to his safety, his lawyer said. Stuart Hutchinson, 30, is charged with assisting Ganly’s accused murderer, Jesse Willis. Hutchinson’s lawyer, David Tamanika, told the court there were concerns for his client’s safety because of threats he had received
in recent weeks. He said Hutchinson had instructed him he would plead guilty. Willis, 28, of Maryborough, is due to face a committal hearing
in September.
