St Albans man remanded after firearm, ammunition found in his car

Police have arrested a 28-year-old St Albans man after a firearm was found in his car at Williamstown on Monday night.

The man’s car was parked in Nelson Street when police searched the vehicle and allegedly found the firearm hidden in the centre console.

Also in the vehicle, police found ammunition, a conducted energy device, Australian Federal Police ID badge, Victoria Police lanyard, two-way radios and tools used for house breaking.

Kidus Gebru was arrested about 9pm and a warrant executed at his home where, police allege, 4.5kg of dried cannabis was seized.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
