One Million Donors campaign launched last week

More Australian employees will be able to make pre-tax donations to charity thanks to the Australian Charity Fund’s One Million Donors campaign.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of workplace giving, a program in which employees can make regular donations to charity through a payroll system.

Australian Charities Fund CEO Jenny Geddes said the campaign’s target for 2020 would see Australian workers and their employers contributing well over $300 million each year to charity.

The key priority of the campaign is to encourage business leaders as well as charities to support and promote workplace giving to Australian employees.

The campaign was launched on Thursday at Parliament House by the Minister for Communications Malcolm Turnbull and Federal Higgins MP Kelly O’Dwyer.

Mr Turnbull said the campaign had “the potential to change the way Australians donate to charity”.
