Albanvale home invasion: Intruders throw mystery substance on man’s face

A substance police feared was hazardous was thrown in a man’s face during a terrifying home invasion in Albanvale on Thursday morning.

Two adults and two young children were home when two masked men forced their way into the Evergreen Avenue property just before 2am, a police spokeswoman said.

A 30-year-old man confronted the intruders, who threw an unknown substance in his face.

A crime scene was established and hazardous material crews were called in to identify the substance, which was declared safe, the spokeswoman said.

The man was not injured and nothing was stolen from the house in the incident, which police are continuing to investigate.
