Commonwealth Games: Trotter, Miao and Odgers all step up

Broadmeadows’ Hannah Trotter has been knocked out in the 52kg division of the women’s judo competition at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Trotter, 22, was beaten by her Indian opponent in the quarter-finals of the event. Competing later in the repechage, Trotter fell to a Canadian.

Broadmeadows table tennis star Miao Miao started her Games in style, joining doubles partner Vivian Dederko to beat Guyana and hosts Scotland, both 3-0.

Lalor Bowling Club star Carla Odgers, from Keilor Downs, was part of the women’s fours team which struggled on day one.

The Australians beat Papua New Guinea 12-10, but lost to Jersey 14-13 at the Kelvingrove Bowls Centre.
