Sunshine Hospital surgeries hit after ‘internal emergency’

A ‘code yellow’ was called at Sunshine Hospital alerting the staff to an “internal emergency” on Friday.

The hospital  postponed surgeries following a problem in the IT systems from 9.30am-3pm.

“To ensure patient safety, some elective surgeries were postponed, however emergency surgeries were not impacted,” Western Health’s operaions executive director Russell Harrison said.

He said the situation was not serious and precautinary measures were undertaken.

Mr Harrison said manual processes were implemented in the emergency department and no unplanned transfers had occurred.
