FRANKSTON: Man killed by house fire in Cliff Road

An elderly man was killed when fire tore through a house in Frankston on Saturday evening.

Emergency services were called to Cliff Road just after 6pm and found the two-story timber house fully engulfed in flames.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the 87-year-old man died in the fire.

An arson chemist would investigate what caused the fire, she said.

A second man suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition, Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said.

Country Fire Authority spokeswoman Kayla Maskell said it took crews from Frankston, Mount Eliza and Patterson River about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
