BAYSWATER: Teen in coma after bashing at party

A teenage boy is in a coma after he was bashed during a riotous party in Bayswater on Saturday night.

Police were called to the party in Station Street after gate-crashers attended and fights broke out.

They found about 100 youths involved in spot fights that were spilling on to the street.

A witness has told police that he saw a 15-year-old from Carrum Downs walking away from the crowd along the footpath when he was struck by a youth running past him.

The victim was knocked to the ground and hit his head on the footpath. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and allowed to leave after being collected by his mother.

On the way home his condition deteriorated and after attending the Angliss Hospital, he was transferred to the Royal Children’s Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.

Police are yet to speak to the victim but are appealing to anyone who may have information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppers.com.au.
