A 21-year-old Taylors Lakes man has been charged after police observed a vehicle allegedly travelling at around 165km/h on the Calder Freeway in Keilor about 10.25pm on Sunday 30 November.
Checks were conducted on the BMW which allegedly revealed it was displaying cloned plates.
A broadcast was made for Air Wing to assist, and they continued to track the vehicle to the Melton Highway.
The BMW allegedly continued to drive at speeds of about 200km/h.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however it allegedly failed to stop and began driving on the wrong side of the road.
The BMW drove to a property on Apollo Road in Taylors Lakes where it parked in the driveway of a property.
Officers moved in and arrested the alleged driver, and he was taken into custody to be interviewed.
The BMW was impounded at a cost of $999.52.
The man was charged with dangerous driving whilst pursued by police, driving at a dangerous speed, failing to stop on police direction, and drug driving.
He was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on 31 March.
