Investigation into Hillside fire

A fire that tore through a Hillside house on Thursday, August 21 will be investigated by the Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) state fire investigation unit.

FRV and CFA crews were called to the house fire on Bedingham Drive shortly after 11pm, and arrived on scene to find a residential garage well alight.

The fire quickly spread to the attached single storey house and crews escalated their response.

Crews got to work quickly using multiple hose lines with an external attack due to the intensity of the fire.

Paramedics were requested to attend for two occupants of the home who had evacuated but were suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire was declared under control at 11:46pm, 25 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.

The house sustained significant damage in the fire and a local council building surveyor will attend the scene to assess the safety of the structure.
