Teen arrested following 2023 Taylors Lakes fatal hit-run

Detectives arrested an 18-year-old man as part of an investigation into the death of a teenage boy who was allegedly deliberately struck by a car in Taylors Lakes in November 2023.

The teen was arrested at his Sydenham home at 6am on February 27, and will be interviewed by investigators.

The arrest follows an incident where a group of teens were crossing Chichester Drive when it’s alleged they were deliberately struck by a vehicle about 6.55pm on November 6, 2023.

The driver of the vehicle, which was previously stolen, fled the scene.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 16-year-old Keilor Downs boy died at the scene.

Two other boys, a 16-year-old from Melton and 15-year-old from Keilor Downs, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police allege the incident was targeted and that the parties involved were known to each other.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV, dashcam footage or any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
