Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to reports of a house on fire in Taylors Lakes at about 3 am on January 27.
Crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the roof space of a two-storey brick residence.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and began an external attack on the fire as well as protecting the adjoining properties.
The fire caused significant structural collapse preventing fire fighters from entering the house.
It has not been established if there was anyone inside however there are signs the property was abandoned.
The fire was deemed under control by about 3.45 am.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it will be investigated.
Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
