St Albans man charged over liquor theft

A 24-year-old St Albans man has been charged with allegedly stealing and reselling nearly $100,000 in high end liquor and other goods.

Police believe the man targeted a specific major liquor store chain at varying locations, including Berwick, Hawthorn, Bacchus Marsh, Alphington, Ascot Vale, Doncaster, Burwood East and Mulgrave over the last several weeks.

It’s alleged the man is involved in an organised syndicate where the stolen high-end liquor is then resold.

Police will allege the man has stolen at least $94,000 worth of alcohol in over a dozen thefts.

He was arrested on January 8 by officers in the St Albans area, and has been charged with multiple counts of theft.

He will face Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today, January 10.
