Somerville Road has been closed in both directions as fire crews respond to a hazardous material spill this morning.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) said it is estimated that approximately 100 litres of Arsenic have spilled from a container on a truck and onto the roadway with the risk of the product entering the stormwater system.
Specialist FRV Hazmat Technicians and Scientific Advisor were on scene to stop the spill and mitigate the incident.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
FRV said it will remain on scene to ensure the product is safely removed from the roadway and prevented from entering the drains.
