EDFL: Mark Blake wins Premier division best and fairest award

Aberfeldie’s Mark Blake was last night crowned the winner of the R.S.Reynolds medal at the Essendon District Football League best and fairest awards.

Blake, who played 99 games for Geelong in the AFL, polled two votes in the final round to finish the night on 18 in the Premier division count.

He finished one vote clear of reigning Reynolds medalist, Keilor’s Andrew Browne, and Greenvale’s Stephen Brewer.

Both Browne and Brewer polled three votes in the final round.

In the division 1, Taylors Lakes’ Mark DeSousa won a record fourth Hutchinson Medal.

DeSousa was the runaway winner, finishing seven votes ahead of West Coburg’s Abdikhane.

It’s the second time Abdikhane has finished second in the medal behind DeSousa.

In division 2, Moonee Valley’s Moustafa  Hammoud won the best and fairest award, four votes clear of East Keilor’s Daniel Neville.
