Sunbury Kangaroos’ Dylan Murphy and Riddell’s Lauren Close have taken out the top awards at the Riddell District Football Netball League best and fairest night on Wednesday .

One vote in the final round against the Bombers was enough to see Murphy win the Bowen medal with 16 votes, one ahead of Romsey’s Chris Petroro.

Close, who had missed several games through injury and playing in the Australian Netball League, won the Ryan Medal with 23 votes.

Redbacks midcourter Toni Lind finished second.

Close also took out the coaches best player award, while Murphy won the Buffalo Sports award.

The Bombers’ Jessica Dominko won the netball rising star award, while Rockbank’s Jordan Baugmgartner won the Steve Turner medal for the best football player under-23.
