To infinity and beyond

Sunshine College, Sunshine North Primary School and 100 Story Building have banded together to reshape the landscape of education and creativity in the local community.

Launched officially on November 21, Sunshine North Story Hubs has created the artfully designed Intergalactic Outbreak in each school library: a “time space tear” connecting to other times and worlds and inspiring stories and curiosity in classrooms.

100 Story Building works with under-resourced schools to develop a unique co-designed Story Hub – built within the school to provide an opportunity for students and teachers to step outside the boundaries of their classrooms.

Co-designed by students, facilitated by teachers, and brought to life by local artist Jess Wilson, the hubs convey the message that creativity knows no bounds.

“When students are given an opportunity to have a voice, be creative and be imaginative, they own it,“ said Sunshine North Primary School principal Nelly Santos.

Placing student voices at the forefront, Story Hubs foster connections between students, teachers, and peers, promoting a sense of agency in learning and contributing to overall well-being. This understanding is further highlighted as schools continue to see more students adjusting after pandemic lockdowns.

100 Story Building chief executive Susan Kukucka said the hubs transcend traditional learning modes to embrace “boundless inspiration.

“Students are guided to lead their own creative adventures and teachers are remembering the joy of learning alongside curiously creative students,” she said.

As concerns of teacher burnout persist, the launch offers a timely creative outlet and a promising model for community-supported education.
