An oversized deck of strength and recovery cards have taken pride of place at the Bowery Gallery in St Albans.

Qualified creative arts therapist Lee Agius said the objective of the exhibition is to actively involve the community.

“These cards serve as a reflection of the continual challenges, emotions, and feelings that can impact our mental well-being, either by hindering or supporting it,” she said.

“The exhibition aims to create an interactive and immersive experience where visitors can explore and engage with the themes surrounding mental health, gaining insights into the factors that affect it positively or negatively.”

Lee said creative arts therapy offers a non-threatening way for children, adolescents and adults to express their inner feelings without any need to be artistically proficient.

“Combining psychotherapy with creative media in either the visual arts, movement, music and storytelling can offer a support system that strengthens coping skills and a sense of self to explore challenges and issues in life both on an individual basis and within the promotion of group wellbeing,” she said.

The installation will be on display at the Bowery Gallery in the St Albans Community Centre until November 23.
