Man banned from neighbourhood
A 37-year-old Albion man has been given a year-long ban from frequenting Clarke Street, Sunshine. The Brimbank Safer Communities Taskforce used new state legislation on exclusion orders to enforce the ban in an attempt to keep the street safe and free of violent and antisocial behaviour. The man had been repeatedly told by police to move on from the area and, following numerous requests, was ordered by a magistrate to stay away. Any breach of the ban could result in imprisonment of up to two years.
Three on murder charges
Homicide squad detectives have charged three men following the death of a 24-year-old man in Rosella Crescent, Caroline Springs, earlier this month. The men – John Pearce, 66, of St Albans, Peter Dimitrovski, 28, of Derrimut, and Robert Dimitrovski, 21, also of Derrimut – were arrested and charged with murder during an out-of-sessions hearing on October 20. At this stage, police believe that one of the men has links to motorcycle gang OMCG Bros MC.
Clarification
A story reported by Star Weekly in our October 21 edition under the headline “Reserve to sport a fresh look” had an incorrect detail. A $186,000 upgrade to the Lloyd Reserve in Sunshine will involve only installation of lighting to improve training standards at the soccer ground – not construction of a new pavilion.
