School essentials will be delivered to 400 households across the west, thanks to West Welcome Wagon.

The Sunshine-based not-for-profit group collected the items as part of its education drive.

West Welcome Wagon chairperson Chris Scerri said the group would deliver almost 200 uniform vouchers and 540 backpacks this year.

“We have had teams of workplace volunteers work throughout the year to pack resources ready to be delivered (mostly) with our Christmas drive to prevent double handling.”

All items collected were delivered directly to clients homes by volunteers, in time for the new school year .

“It is great to see the families that we support,” Mr Scerri said.

“We are hearing about the cost of living increases and this time of the year places a heavy burden on families.

“We hope that with our assistance, the children of our clients will arrive at school prepared and ready to learn.”
