Derrimut e-waste recycler lodges expansion bid

A Derrimut e-waste and metal recycler is planning to expand its Swann Drive facility to enable it to process up to 20,000 tonnes of waste each year.

ReSource Pty Ltd has applied to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) for a development licence to expand the site.

According to the EPA, the facility will process e-waste such as used batteries, and scrap metal.

“The reprocessed materials would then go for further recycling or processing at other facilities, and anything not suitable for recycling such as certain types of plastics and paper would go to a licensed landfill,” the EPA stated.

The community can make submissions on this proposal until February 7.
