Calder’s list takes shape

It will be a different looking Calder United this year in the National Premier League Women’s competition.

Having won three titles last year, several Calder players made the transition into the A-League Women’s competition with Western United.

With a new coach guiding it this season, Calder has been busy recruiting players for the upcoming season.

Maia Heysen re-joins Calder having played with Alamein in the 2022 season.

Larissa Walsh is making the move across from Western Australia to join Calder.

“After spending the past 10 years playing in the NPLW in Perth, Larissa joins us ready for a new challenge,” Calder said on social media.

“2022 was a successful year for Larissa [at Perth Red Star] who were undefeated for the season with Larissa being awarded the individual accolades of golden boot and player of the year.”

She won’t be the only one making the big journey to join Calder, with American Alexis Mitchell joining Calder.

She played last season in Tasmania.

“Our latest signing from Missouri USA brings class and experience to our 2023 senior team,” Calder said on social media.

“Alexis’s experience extends to time spent within the NWSL [National Women’s Soccer League] in the US with many achievements and accolades accomplished.

“With a masters in Kinesiology and Sports Management, Calder looks forward to Alexis playing an integral role both on and off the pitch in 2023.”

Calder has also announced a couple of re-signings with Ava Groba and Ellie Talevski remaining at Calder.

It will be Groba’s eighth season at Calder and she brings back the experience of being a train on player for Western United.

Talevski stepped into the senior program last year at Calder and is now in her seventh season at the club. She is also a train-on partner for Western United for the A-League Women’s season.
