The Station Place carpark at Sunshine station is set to be closed at key times until the end of April as part of early works for the Melbourne Airport Rail project.
Work is set to begin on a range of early works between Sunshine Station and Matthews Street, Sunshine in preparation for construction. Utility services in the rail corridor will be upgraded and relocated.
In it’s media release, Rail Projects Victoria said they were also removing the existing rail fence to make way for works and using excavators and non-destructive digging trucks to carefully excavate the ground, installing troughs to hold the services, installing new services and cables and reinstating fences and grassed areas.
The Station Place car park will be closed for selected hours from January 18 until April 30. The release said the car park will be closed between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays in that period.
Accessible, staff and taxi parking as well as the turn-around will remain open, but the works require the closure of the shared use path between Sunshine Station and Matthews Street.
A detour will be in place via Station Place and Drayton Street for pedestrians.
