Faster nbn rolling out in the west

Faster nbn is now available in parts of Melton.

Faster internet speeds are now available in Sydenham.

Delivered through the National Broadband Network [nbn], the new connections will be able to deliver download speeds close to one gigabyte per second.

The Fibre Connect program delivers Fibre to the Premises upgrades to eligible customers through their preferred phone and internet provider.

The nbn’s customer experience and products executive general manager Joe Lathan said with more connected devices than ever before, there is increasing demand for faster and more reliable internet from homes and businesses.

“The last couple of years have shown us just how critical the nbn network is,” he said.

“We want more people to reap the benefits of fast and reliable internet, now and into the future.”

Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said the NBN is a key investment in Australia’s future communications capabilities.

“Since 2009, the network has kept Australians connected, supported tele-health and remote education, and boosted economic productivity by expanding access to new customers for small businesses,” she said.

“The Albanese Government is committed to ensuring that Australians get the full benefit of NBN’s potential by upgrading as many NBN lines to full fibre connections as possible.”

The Fibre Connect program is a part of nbn’s $4.5 billion commitment to invest in Australia’s digital systems and enable up to eight million premises across Australia to access nbn’s highest residential wholesale speed tiers by the end of 2023.

Access to the new network is being rolled out progressively.

Users wanting access should check the nbn website to see if their address is in an eligible area, then contact a participating phone and internet provider.
