Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that a national day of mourning public holiday will be observed in Victoria on Thursday, September 22.
The day will continue as a regular trading day ,as is consistent with other public holidays such as the Grand Final Friday, Boxing Day.
Employers and employees are advised to contact their business organisations and relevant unions should they seek additional information.
The government has also confirmed that The Sovereign’s birthday falling on the second Monday in June will be known as The King’s birthday.
