Sporting clubs in Taylors Lakes can now enjoy more inclusive facilities after the official opening of new sport and community buildings at Delahey Recreation Reserve

Community Sports Minister Ros Spence visited the reserve on Monday to officially open the new pavilions and have a look around.

The new pavilions were funded by Brimbank council and a $375,000 investment from the Labor government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The new facilities will provide Taylors Lakes football and cricket clubs, and ETA Buffalo Soccer Club with modern and female friendly change rooms.

The pavilions also feature two umpire rooms, a first aid and social room, as well as a social room and kitchen.

The second pavilion has also been fitted with change rooms set to Football Victoria standards and is positioned closer to the soccer pitch.

Nearby schools and community groups will also be able to use the new pavilions for meetings and events.

Ms Spence acknowledged Brimbank council for its financial contribution of more than $3.49 million.

She said the state government was investing in modernising community sport facilities because we know how important it is to boost female participation.

“These improvements provide more opportunities for women and girls to get active and play the sports they love.”

Brimbank Mayor Jasmine Nguyen thanked the state government for their contribution.

“We are thrilled about the many benefits these new facilities at Delahey Recreational Reserve will bring to our community,” she said.

“The new amenities will provide a useful and welcoming space for local sporting groups to call home.”
