Brimbank council and the state government will deliver at least five key projects across the region over the next financial year, according to an update on council’s Transforming Brimbank strategy.
The strategy aims to deliver key infrastructure and development in the municipality.
All but one of the upcoming projects planned for 2022-23 outlined in the update, which was presented to the August 16 council meeting, are planned for the Sunshine precinct as Sunshine was identified in 2020 as a Priority Precinct in the state government’s plan Melbourne addendum.
The other project is development planning in the Albion precinct that will allow for forecasted growth in the area.
Other projects to commence within 12 months include Sunshine National Employment and Innovation Cluster (NEIC) Economic Strategy, Sunshine NEIC Framework Plan, Sunshine CBD Precinct Planning and Sunshine Health, Wellbeing and Education Precinct Planning.
Speaking at the council meeting, councillor Victoria Borg said: “Council officers commissioned the preparation of the draft urban structure framework reports for the Sunshine national employment and innovative cluster framework report and the sunshine metropolitan activities and centre area Structure framework report.
“In the next decade Brimbank will be undergoing a significant transformation.”
Brimbank council said it will continue working with the state government to deliver these ongoing projects.
Milestone projects completed in 2021-22 include the Melbourne airport rail project update, Sunshine station masterplan, removal of level crossings and commencement of the Sunshine station masterplan process.
