Construction powers ahead in Deer Park as the state government works on removing another dangerous level crossing and instals a new train station in the suburb.
The new replacement station set to open in 2024 will include two accessible elevated platforms, an integrated bus interchange, improved pedestrian and cycling paths, landscaping and “modern” passenger facilities.
Commuters using the old station will now have access to a 250-space temporary car park to utilise while construction carries on and the community awaits the new build.
Moving forwards with the removal of Mt Derrimut Road level crossing will be a new 1.2 kilometre rail bridge installed, replacing the old crossing to improve road safety in the area. It follows the removal of Ardeer’s Fitzgerald Road crossing last month.
Construction workers will begin drilling 8.3 metre holes to support the foundations of the new rail bridge over the coming months
These constructions are apart of $27 billion being invested in roads and rail infrastructure as the state government Minister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan said, “the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road will soon be a thing of the past, with motorists no longer spending their morning held up in traffic – ensuring more time with friends and family.”
