Brimbank Buses

Brimbank council is calling on the state government to better support the western suburbs through public transport as there is currently a gap in accessibility to bus services in the region.

The Star Weekly has previously reported on the “Better Buses in Melbourne’s West” report that was released last week from Melbourne University.

Council has committed their support in lobbying the Victorian Government to proceed with the campaign following a meeting with one of the researchers from Melbourne University.

The review of services suggested a re-routing of bus services across the western suburbs to better connect the region.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Jasmine Nguyen thanked the University of Melbourne for their review of an increasing issue of importance across Brimbank, as it highlights the necessity for these upgrades.

“The research identified a gap between the bus services in this region and other parts of Melbourne and how inefficiencies were not providing good value for money for the State Government.

“Advocating for access to reliable, regular public transport is one way Council can help to improve social inequality and address climate emergency by promoting an environmentally-friendly alternative to car travel,” said Mayor Nguyen.
