It’s no secret that single use plastics are bad for the environment, so why not go plastic free during the month of July to reduce the impact plastics have on our oceans, landfill and global warming.
Brimbank council will be running a free workshop in July on transitioning to reusable items rather than single use plastics, helping residents to become more mindful with their consumption.
Here’s some tips you can use to help curb your plastic use this July:
– Invest in a reusable keep cup for your coffee. According to the Australian government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment over one billion cups are still ending up in landfill each year.
– Use reusable utensils instead of plastic cutlery when getting take away.
– Opt for reusable beeswax wraps or reusable containers for leftover lunches.
– Keep reusable bags in your car for those times when you accidentally leave the bags at home when doing this week’s grocery shopping.
– Attend Brimbank council’s online workshop for more ideas on reducing plastic use and partake in plastic free July.
