The crucial clash between Sydenham Park and Banyule Bulls ended in a 1-1 draw in the FV state league 1 north-west competition. With both sides pushing for second spot, a lot was on the line. Neither team could take control and they shared the points. In the local derby, Keilor Park and Brimbank Stallions also had a 1-1 draw. Ladder leaders Caroline Springs George Cross’ match with Strathmore was washed out and will be played at a later date.

Greenvale stunned Keilor in the Essendon District Football League premier division, with the two teams sharing the points. The Blues inaccuracy kept the Jets in the game and they were made to pay, with the Blues having to settle for an 8.15 (63)-9.9 (63) draw. Christos Kosmas kicked three goals for the Blues. The result sees the Blues slip from first to second. In division 1, Hillside upset Roxburgh by one point, while in division 2, Keilor Park, Burnside Heights and Taylors Lakes all got wins.

Caroline Springs remains undefeated in the Western Region Football League division 1 competition after beating Deer Park on Saturday. The Lakers led at every break in the 15.17 (107)-9.13 (67) win. Tate Wood kicked three goals in a best on ground performance. It was a tough day for St Albans and Sunshine, who lost to Altona and Hoppers Crossing respectively. In division 2, Albion lost to Point Cook Centrals, while in division 3, Albanvale beat Braybrook and Sunshine Heights beat Laverton.

NPL

St Albans Saints first night home game ended in a draw with the Bentleigh Greens in the National Premier League. The Saints hosted the Greens on Saturday in front of a big crowd, with the teams having to share the points, after neither team was able to score in the 0-0. Green Gully also had to share the points with Avondale, after a 1-1 draw. In NPL3, North Sunshine Eagles lost 3-1 to Nunawading City.
