St Albans North Primary School hosted a successful education week this year where parents were invited back into the school for the first time after two years of restrictions.
The week celebrated between Sunday, 22 May to Saturday, 28 May acknowledged the strengths and achievements throughout the school year.
Pupils at St Albans North engaged in activities promoting literacy, numeracy and design technology.
They also wore party clothes to start the week in celebration of 150 years of public education.
Other activities included storytelling in an outdoor garden area, a numeracy competition to make 150 in the most creative way, a sorry day activity which will be placed in the schools foyer and a paper plane fly off.
Parents were also invited back into the classroom for two different sessions during the week to give them the opportunity to see how their child interact with the teacher and their peers as well as to observe and assist their child.
St Albans North Primary School assistant principal Rob Guppy said the week was successful and positive in welcoming parents back on campus.
“Education Week was a successful event, It was fantastic to have students and parents engaging with school and to see the smiles back on the students faces,” he said.
“Our school feels it is important to bring the school Community back together and hopefully several families will be able to attend the open sessions as well as a gardening working bee which will conclude the week.
“It is important for families to be involved in their students learning and Education Week will be a stepping stone into getting families back into school support roles, such as listening to a student read or attending school excursions.”
A gardening working bee concluded the week which parents were invited to attend and help out with the school grounds and gardens.
