Crackdown on speeding drivers in school zones

Thirty people were caught speeding in school zones in Brimbank during a recent police operation.

Operation School Safe ran from May 9-11 in response to community concerns about driver behaviour in and around school zones.

Police checked 1788 vehicles during the operation, with 57 infringement notices issued.

Two people received summons to face court at a later date.

Police said 30 people were found to be exceeding the 40km/h speed limit, with six people receiving a minimum three month loss of licence due to excessive speeds.

Seven people were caught using a mobile phone while driving.

Two people were arrested for unrelated outstanding matters and two stolen vehicles were located.
