A Deer Park woman thought that she had won $750 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket but was shocked to learn that she had actually won a $100,000 top prize.
The woman purchased the winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Sunshine Marketplace Lotto.
The Deer Park woman said that she decided to buy the ticket after a friend gave her a $2 ticket and she won $50 from it.
“I thought I’d give it another go and grab more Instant Scratch-Its tickets with the prize,” she said.
“Initially, I thought I’d won $750, and I was super excited.
“I went straight to the newsagency to claim the prize and the team member said I’d won over $4000, and I had to go to the head office to claim it.”
The woman said she then thought that she had won $10,000 and she was “still in shock” after learning about how much she had won.
“When I went to The Lott head office, they told me I’d won $100,000,” she said.
“I thought, ‘Is this a dream? Is this serious?’
“This is the biggest win I’ve ever had.”
The Deer Park woman said she did not have any concrete plans on how she would be using the money yet.
“I’m still trying to process the win at this stage, but I know it will be put to good use,” she said.
The Sunshine Marketplace Lotto team said they were thrilled for the top prize winner.
