Young minds get creative

Budding young Brimbank artists honed their creative skills last week as part of a series of visual arts workshops.

The Gallery Is Me workshops, which were held at Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House from April 18-22, encouraged kids aged nine to 14 years old to experiment with a broad range of materials to create works of art.

The artworks will be exhibited on May 7 from 12.30-3pm.

Previous The Gallery Is Me participants were invited to take part in this year’s workshops as mentors for new participants.

Workshop facilitator Lise Kaufman said the young artists were encourage to lead their own learning experiences during the workshops and were encouraged to create artworks that expressed their sense of self.

She said the May 7 exhibition will be the program’s third.
