State government along with the Melton council have announced that five new kindergartens will be opened in the municipality by 2026.

The new early learning spaces will be constructed in Rockbank, Weir Views, Fraser Rise, Deansde and Melton West.

Council estimates these new centres will provide 1120 places for three-year-old and four-year-old kindergarten.

The state government has contributed an initial sum of $17.3 million to compliment council’s $13 million.

Melton council mayor Goran Kesic said the projects would provide timely options to parents as the west continues to develop rapidly.

“The City of Melton is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia. With 52 babies born every

week, it’s so important that we work together to ensure every child gets the best start to their

development and education,” Cr Kesic said.

“Kindergarten helps children become confident learners in a safe and supported environment.

“We’re proud to partner with the state government to make kinder accessible for all local three

and four-year-olds.”

Council currently manages 26 kindergartens across the municipality. Parents are being invited to explore local kindergartens through the month of March to help inform enrolment decisions.
